If you've run into me at a conference or another event, you've probably heard me talk about The Rainbow Rule.

Most people have heard of The Golden Rule- to treat others as you would like to be treated. And a lot of people have heard of The Silver Rule- to not treat others as you don't want to be treated. But I'd like to talk about The Rainbow Rule- which is to treat others as they want to be treated.

This just means to use the pronouns, names, and labels that others want you to use for them. And not to use the pronouns, names, and labels that other people don't want you to use for them.

It's a simple idea that can matter so much when it comes to the LGBTQ+ Community.
